Professional Background
Professional BackgroundDr. Gelernt is focused on quality healthcare for all his patients, and has a strong interest in the future of medical care. He is serving on the Board of Directors for the Heart House. Additionally, he is in his second term as Medical Staff President for Inspira Healthcare, where he also serves on the Board of Directors. He continues to help the system develop new programs to improve care, including the STEMI program for acute heart attack patients, a dyspnea/pulmonary hypertension program for those with shortness of breath, and a streamlined CVA/TIA protocol to help those with acute neurologic syndromes receive more efficient, less costly care with improved quality outcomes. He helps monitor quality performance standards and results for the system, and developed an improved and more robust performance improvement process; as a result, quality and costs for patients in the system have continued to improve. In his adminstrative role, he also works closely with the Graduate Medical Education department to help improve training for our future physicians.
